What to do right now
While you’re on your way to our Westheimer office, here’s how to manage the situation.
Swelling or bleeding
Place an ice pack on the affected side of your face to help manage swelling and discomfort on the way in.
Dislodged crown or restoration
Clean it gently and place it in a safe container. We’ll assess whether it can be repaired or reused.
My tooth was completely knocked out! Is there any way to save it?
Yes, but you have to act fast — ideally within 30 to 60 minutes. Carefully pick up the tooth by the crown (the chewing part), never the root. If it’s dirty, rinse it gently with water, but don’t scrub it. Try to slip it back into the socket and bite down gently on gauze. If it won’t go in, keep it moist in a small container of milk or your own saliva and get to our Westheimer office immediately. The faster we see you, the better the chance Dr. Patel or Dr. Vu can re-implant it.

Emergency dentist FAQ
How much does an emergency visit cost?
The emergency exam with a panoramic X-ray and a single-tooth X-ray is $59 if you pay yourself. If you need treatment, we tell you the cost before we start. Most PPO plans are accepted, and financing is available through CareCredit, Sunbit or Cherry.
Can I walk in?
Yes, Monday to Friday during office hours (Mon–Thu 8 AM–5 PM, Fri 8 AM–3 PM). Calling (713) 952-0522 first helps us plan your visit.
Are you open on weekends?
No, we are closed Saturday and Sunday. For severe swelling, trouble breathing or bleeding that won’t stop, go to the nearest emergency room.
What should I do if a tooth is knocked out?
Pick it up by the top, not the root. Rinse it briefly without scrubbing, then try to put it back in the socket or keep it in milk. Get seen right away, ideally within an hour.
Is a chipped or broken tooth an emergency?
If it hurts, has a sharp edge, or a large piece is missing, yes. Call us the same day.
Do you take insurance for emergency visits?
We accept most PPO dental plans. We’ll check your coverage when you call.
