Is there a difference between a store-bought night guard and a custom one from the dentist?
Yes — a custom night guard is fitted to your exact bite, so it’s more comfortable and far more effective at protecting your teeth than a one-size-fits-all option.
Why can’t a regular cleaning fix the same issues as scaling and root planing?
A regular cleaning addresses the tooth surface above the gumline. Scaling and root planing goes below it to remove bacteria and smooth root surfaces — necessary once gum disease has taken hold.
